THE scam
The 2017 UCP Leadership contest has been marred in controversy. There are numerous documented cases of unsuspecting Albertan's being victims of identity theft. Their identities were used to create fake email addresses without their consent. Members of Jason Kenney's team allegedly used these email addresses to intercept voting pins which allowed them to fraudulently vote for Jason Kenney. It is important to remember that the process for voting in the PC Unity vote was the exact same process as the UCP leadership contest. This is significant because of the fact that the data collected (pieces of identification) for the Unity vote was transferred automatically to Jason's Kenney's team and was then kept on file for further use. We have encountered individuals who have never purchased and/or signed up as a member of any Party, yet they are showing up as voted in both the Unity vote and the Leadership vote. Ethnic communities were targeted in this scheme, as well as seniors and various church groups across the province.
THE PLAYERS
We acknowledge that is virtually impossible for any one lone individual to have allegedly pulled off a scheme of this magnitude. Careful planning and implementation would have been required. As has been reported over the past year, individuals from all levels of the UCP (paid staff, volunteers, candidates and MLA's) have been implicated and/or interviewed by authorities about their involvement. As can be seen below, this scheme involved numerous individuals, many of whom are now MLA's (Joseph Schow, Jordan Walker, Whitney Issik and Peter Singh), appointed as "advocates" (Janice Harrington) and hired as Ministerial staff (Chad Hallman) to name just a few.
the board
In addition to the key players involved in this scheme, individuals who sat on the UCP Board during the time period in question are also liable for any illegalities that occurred during their term(s). The Board knowingly authorized the hiring of "Front Porch Strategies" to operate the help-desk during the leadership vote despite the fact that the company has been accused of using unsavory tactics in the past (robocalling during the 2011 federal election).
TAKING ACTION
There is a class action lawsuit that is being put together against the UCP Board of Directors, Jason Kenney's Leadership team and other individuals involved in the creation of fake emails and identity theft during the UCP leadership. If you were a victim and would like to join the 100+ that have signed on thus far please email: info@UCPidentitytheft.com
